Flix and Chill for a good cause

Bathurst, NSW: With winter temperatures forecast to drop below freezing next week, there will be no better place to be than getting cosy and enjoying a movie on the big screen in the warmth of Walshaw Hall, thanks to Westfund Health Insurance.

The ‘Flix and Chill’ event forms part of the Bathurst Winter Festival and includes two great family movie afternoons on Sunday July 2 and 9, with all proceeds going to local charity Veritas House.
Westfund Community Development Manager, Lisa Gibson, said the health fund provider was proud to be supporting an event that bought the community together while helping vulnerable children, young people and their families.

“Westfund has had a physical presence in Bathurst for over 20 years. Just like our members, Westfund is part of the local community, and we’re always looking for ways to be involved in events and initiatives that support regional communities,” Ms Gibson said.

“We are proud to be working with Bathurst Regional Council to bring Flix and Chill to Bathurst. With their help and support, all ticket proceeds made from the events will go towards changing the lives of vulnerable people in our community.

“The cold weather makes it a perfect time for families to come down and grab a sausage and drink before snuggling in to enjoy a movie on the big screen in the warmth of the historic Walshaw Hall – all while helping those in need,” she said.

The Mayor of Bathurst, Robert ‘Stumpy’ Taylor, said Bathurst Regional Council are pleased to see Westfund get involved in this year’s Bathurst Winter Festival.

“On behalf of Bathurst Regional Council, I would like to thank Westfund for sponsoring the Bathurst Winter Festival's Flix and Chill event,” Mr Taylor said.

“Westfund’s support has enabled us to bring a new experience to the Winter Festival where people can enjoy a family movie and all proceeds from the event generously going to Veritas House,” he said.

Veritas House CEO Jody Pearce said the charity have been supporting children and young people in the Bathurst community for the past 40 years.

“We are delighted that Westfund has selected our service as the recipient of the proceeds from the Bathurst Winter Festival Flix and Chill afternoons,” Ms Pearce said.

“Westfund has been a great supporter of Veritas over a number of years and these events are a fantastic opportunity for local families to enjoy some school holiday fun, while at the same time knowing they are assisting a local charity,” explained Ms Pearce.

Entry to the event is $10 per person and includes a sausage sizzle, drink and kids face painting, with all ticket proceeds going to Veritas House. For more information, visit or to purchase a ticket visit https://www.123tix.com.au/events/profile/2339
