Clean Slate
The Clean Slate Clinic is a community‑focused program created to support people experiencing mild to moderate alcohol dependence. Designed for those who may find traditional detox services hard to access, the clinic offers a caring and flexible alternative—helping individuals safely withdraw from alcohol at home with medical support.
What is it?
Westfund has joined with Clean Slate to help members struggling with mild to moderate alcohol dependence.
Developed in response to the challenges many people face in accessing traditional detox services, the program offers a compassionate and accessible alternative—empowering individuals to undertake home-based alcohol withdrawal under medical supervision.
Spanning a structured 12-month period, the Clean Slate Clinic provides ongoing care and support that extends well beyond initial detox. Members follow a comprehensive care plan that includes telehealth consultations with doctors, regular nurse check-ins, and support from peer workers with lived experience.
This remote delivery model increases access for those in rural and regional areas and allows members to begin and continue their recovery journey in the privacy and comfort of their own homes.
This is a three phase program:
- Preparation (2–3 weeks): Includes assessments, blood tests, and planning.
- Detox (1 week): Daily video check-ins with a nurse and medication to manage withdrawal.
- Aftercare (12 months): Ongoing nurse check-ins, peer support, and relapse prevention strategies.
Who’s it for?
The program is for members with mild to moderate alcohol dependence that would like to detox. Please check your eligibility* for this program.
*Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, Participants must:
- Be 18 years of age or over;
- Have held eligible Hospital cover for at least 2 months
- Provide explicit written or verbal informed consent prior to enrolment;
- Be likely to respond to, and is able to actively participate in, the Services provided under the Program;
There are additional clinical criteria that must be met in order to qualify for the Clean Slate Clinic program. This is determined by Clean Slate Clinic - a specialist nurse will undertake an assessment via telehealth to ensure you are suitable for the program.
Members must also be on one of the following hospital covers:
- Gold Tier Hospital Products
- Athlete Gold
- Overseas Top Plus Hospital
