Keep your smile this Dental Health Week

Dental Health Week

It’s Dental Health Week and the experienced team at Westfund Dental Care in Lithgow is celebrating!

They’ve been distributing care packs to each patient and promoting the message of ‘Keep your smile for life’.

Maintaining good oral health and making sure you take preventative measures to protect your teeth, gums and smile are at the heart of this year’s Dental Health Week message.

Westfund’s Chief Health Care Services Officer, Liz Casmiri, said it’s extremely important to stay on top of your oral health.
“There are some concerning statistics around poor dental care for many Australians,” she said.
“We know that as many as 75 per cent of adults rarely or never floss or clean between their teeth... and that one in five adults only brush once a day.”
“We often like to think we’re in a better position when it comes to overall dental habits, but statistics show that we’re not,” she said.

Liz offered a few simple tips for improving your oral health routine and making sure you keep your smile for life.

  • Brush your teeth twice a day, and be sure to use a toothpaste that contains fluoride.
  • Use dental floss or interdental brushes to clean between your teeth daily every day
  • Limit your intake of sugar and eat a healthy, balanced diet
  • Make sure you and your family visit the dentist regularly for check-ups and preventive care.
