Buninyong Public School are now the proud owners of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) thanks to our Here for Hearts Schools Program.
The Program is a partnership with the Defibshop which is designed to save lives by increasing awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest and the importance of defibrillators in the community.
Westfund partners with Defibshop to deliver the programme, which aims to subsidise AED purchases for schools across care centre areas locations throughout NSW and Queensland.
Buninyong’s AED was presented at a special assembly at the school attended by Westfund representatives and the Defibshop’s Carpet Hughes will demonstrate the importance of CPR and defibrillators within our community.
Mr Hughes, an intensive care paramedic with over twenty years of para-medicine experience, said AEDs can save a life.
AED’s are used in the instance of sudden cardiac arrest.
If delivered within minutes of a cardiac arrest, defibrillation can increase survival rates by 80 percent or more.
The partnership with Westfund means we can provide more of these AED’s in regional areas where they’re needed most
Mr Hughes then took the staff of Buninyong Public School through a training session on how to use AED which potentially save a life.
Round three of the Here for Hearts Schools Program is currently open, with applications closing on June 30.
