Emerald State High School is now home to a life-saving device courtesy of Here for Hearts – Schools, a community program and partnership between Westfund Health Insurance and the Defibshop.
Westfund Regional Manager Erica Fredericksen made the presentation to representatives from the school this week.
“Westfund Emerald is extremely proud to be able to support schools in our regional communities in this way and to also promote awareness of the importance of AEDs (Automatic External Defibrillators) in schools as well as in the general public,” she said.
Awareness and information about the importance of AEDs is central to the Here for Hearts program – evidenced by an information session and training evening coordinated by Westfund for Emerald Rotary members on Sunday evening.
Westfund donated a defibrillator to Emerald Rotary earlier this year and took the opportunity to have the Defibshop’s Carpet Hughes on hand to conduct an information session for the greater community.
The donation recognised Rotary’s continued commitment to regional community events and ongoing support of the Emerald region and its people.
About Here For Hearts
Here for Hearts is Westfund’s community initiative focusing on assisting with the provision of AED (Automated External Defibrillators) to regional communities, with a particular emphasis on schools for 2016/17.
Planning for the 2018 program is focusing on community and sporting organisations.
The Here for Hearts program is a partnership between Westfund Health Insurance and the Defibshop. The program aims to bring greater awareness of the importance of easier access to Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) in our communities, particularly in regional and rural areas.
The partnership also means the cost of AEDs can be subsidised through discounting and matching contributions from Westfund Health Insurance.
