Our Here for Hearts Schools Program, a collaboration with the Defibshop, continues to improve access to Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for regional schools.
The latest winners of subsidised AED, Gulgong Public School, welcomed Westfund representatives along with the Defibshop’s Carpet Hughes to a special assembly organised for the handover of the device.
Staff and students were given a demonstration of how the AED works, and information on why AEDs are so important in case of Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
Thanks to some assistance from Gulgong students Indiana Lucas and Brayden McBaron-Lucas, Carpet was able to show the school community how the AED can help save a life.
Round three of the Here for Hearts Schools Program is currently open, with applications closing on June 30.
The program aims to reinforce the important role AEDs play in the community, while increasing the number of devices available to regional Australians.
